Culinary experience in Skipton

The "Keelham Food Hall" in Skipton, England, was a versatile culinary experience that went far beyond a classic restaurant until its closure in December 2023. It combined a high-quality food market with several dining options and was deeply rooted in the traditions of the Yorkshire Dales. Originally established as Keelham Farm Shop by siblings Victoria and James Robertshaw in 2015, it evolved into a popular meeting place for food enthusiasts and locals before shutting its doors due to financial difficulties triggered by the cost-of-living crisis. However, in November 2024, it was announced that the business would be reopened under the new management of Robertshaw’s Farm Shop Limited for £2.2 million, rekindling hopes for the return of this culinary hotspot.

Local products in restaurants

At the heart of the "Keelham Food Hall" was the "Keelham Kitchen," a restaurant focused on transforming the fresh, regional products from the attached food market into delicious dishes. Here, succulent steaks from the in-house butcher were served, impressing guests with their tenderness and intense flavor. Equally popular were the colorful salads prepared with crisp vegetables and fruits sourced directly from the shop, celebrated for their freshness. For those with a sweet tooth, desserts like the creamy Sticky Toffee Pudding, with its sweet caramel notes, were a highlight. The open kitchen allowed guests to watch the chefs at work, adding an authentic and lively touch to the experience.

Best pizzerias in Yorkshire

In addition to the "Keelham Kitchen," the "Keelham Food Hall" offered another dining option with the "Knead Pizzeria." This was known for its handmade, wood-fired sourdough pizzas that combined tradition and flavor. Particularly appreciated was the crispy crust, topped with high-quality ingredients such as local cheese or fresh herbs. The pizzeria added a relaxed, family-friendly component to the offering, appealing to both pizza lovers and those seeking an uncomplicated meal.

Fresh food markets in England

The concept of the "Keelham Food Hall" revolved around the connection between shopping and enjoyment: the products sold in the shop—from meat to vegetables to baked goods—went directly into the restaurant dishes. This philosophy emphasized supporting over 250 local farmers and producers, which not only strengthened the regional economy but also ensured high-quality ingredients. The atmosphere was characterized by a rustic yet modern design with exposed beams and warm lighting, creating an inviting environment. Additionally, a rooftop terrace offered a special allure on sunny days.

Keelhams shut this outlet in January 2024. This website should be taken down. Do not waste your time going.

Hordes of sixth-form waiting staff walking around aimlessly, trying to avoid eye contact. To call the service slow and inept would be an understatement...

It has to have been the most expensive supermarket in the Skipton area. Not surprised it went bust. It seems the staff have been treated abominably. Management should have stuck to flogging spuds. No stars.

This was the first time I have been here and was really impressed, was a lot bigger than I expected. The choice of goods on sale was really good a bit more expensive than supermarkets but good quality food and a very friendly and helpful staff. Will be going back.

Ate in the restaurant and was given what I would say below average service in today's day and age. As requested by the sign, we stood to be waited to be seated, the staff saw us and we was ignored. We decided to try the cafe upstairs but decided it wasn't for us and queued again downstairs. As you know this farm shop is in the middle of nowhere and we had driven 75 minutes to come here. This time when I waited in front of the sign, I called the staff over and asked for a table for two. We was seated and not long after we placed our order. We noticed the roast on the counter and asked a waitress what it was, she said its for the Sunday dinner...We was like what Sunday dinner It's not on the menu but you should've been told about it as you was seated. We requested for our meal to be changed...No problem. We waited...And waited A different staff came over and said have we finished our meal (hinting if we wanted dessert or the bill) I said we haven't received our meal. Food came out but my pink beef was well done by the time I finished taking photos. The beef when it was cut was pink... We could see this as we sat on the table in front of the kitchen... And it was put into what I would say a oven to heat up the components as we could clearly see everything... The cauliflower cheese was Luke warm... I tried to wait for a staff member to walk past and I hope a staff would come over to ask if everything is alright...But nope. No one. So decided to eat our food Beef was tough, but what was pink was soft. When we finished our food we noticed the chef looking our way so my partner gave a thumbs up...Knowing how stressful that position can be, in return we was given a blank annoyed stare Working in a open kitchen your customers see everything. It wasn't a good night to see a *annoyed* look Driving a near 3 hour trip to dine here I was very very disappointed with the service received and the Luke warm food. This has always been a marker on my Google map, but after today. This location marker has been removed as I won't be coming back

Excellent selection of fresh food, pies are the best of any shop bought, especially beef and red wine😋. Good choice of local bottled beer. Had lunch in cafe, very nice with pleasant attentive staff. Update 9/12/23, still as good as ever

The cafe was freezing cold. We asked if the heaters (plug in ones around the room) could be turned on, we were told they can be turned on for a short period only as they use too much power. She never came to turn it on anyway. The food and drinks were disappointing. We will not be coming back.

I was visiting the area a few month ago when upon leaving I saw this Keelman Farm Shop and thought I need a look in there and I was so impressed by the Farm Shop I decided to buy some biscuits upon leaving I spotted some hampers by the door and thought they would make a beautiful present for my best friends mother, Well I decided to make a call and spoke a beautiful lady named Sue and asked if they had any in for when I could come back seeing how I live in South Shields,I said I would return on Thursday 16th November about 3.30pm, Sue said that would be no problem and they were made up for me on the day this is expentional service. This far the best Farm Shop I have seen, everything I saw was immaculately displayed, the fresh food was also the same, they have flowers which is delivered on a daily basis, everything is locally sourced, it boats a delicatessen with a wide range of cheeses and home cooks pies and everything in between hat can satisfy even the most awkward pallet. The wines are vast and varied, they also boast a restaurant which serves a wide range of good honest food. I would to take this time to thank Hayle with all my heart in getting permission for me to take pics for my review (love you for this Ms Haley) To the Owners Thank you for a memorable visit and your great staff with a brilliant eye for detail, do you and Keelman FarmShop justice.

We called here on the way to Lake Windermere to celebrate our anniversary. The cafe manager spoke to Andrea and upon hearing our plans! She did no more than offer us another drink on them to start our anniversary celebrations. Such a nice gesture. Thank you.

Clean, tidy place with a good range of reasonably priced produce. There is also a cafe/restaurant and the facilities were clean and pleasant. The staff seemed mostly friendly and obliging. There was a big car park with plenty of room for our coach
